Our show for September is officially up and it’s rad as hell.
“CONTEMPORARY TATTOO ART: Traditional Flash” is the work of IOWA CITY TATTOO (formerly NEMESIS) artists Anne Marsh, Andrew Lindenboom, and Old School Jeff.
In the tattoo world “FLASH” refers to pre-designed images that serve as templates for tattoos. Usually, flash is shown as a collection of images that can be chosen from for a tattoo – in a book or on the wall at the tattoo parlor. And this show is exactly that. Some originals on the wall are for sale and some prints are for sale, but ALL PIECES in this show can be tattooed by the artists, just right down the street from the White Rabbit.
SHOW UP ALL MONTH!
@WHITE RABBIT GALLERY
Come meet the artists! Eat a snack, drink a drink, see this striking body of work, take something home, enter to win big in Iowa City Tattoo’s RAFFLE (YES! more deets to come), AND if you like, you could even book an appointment for any tattoo you see on the wall right there in person at the closing.

Ultra Terrestrial: A superior, non-human entity of natural or supernatural origin that is indigenous to planet Earth.
Bright colors, super natural and mystical imagery, psychedelia, ufos, extra terrestrials, animals, strange vegetation, and visionary folk art from around the world all inspire Becca Kacanda’s designs and her life.
We are so excited to have the amazing art of Ultra Terrestrial aka Becca Kacanda from Dubuque, Iowa in our window for Mission Creek this week. Be sure to stop in to check out her work. Sculptures included in the window installation are for sale !! 🙂 Take home a piece of the magic. The installation will be on display through the month of April.
Our second art show this month is up! So much to see here buds, come on down!
This show by Genevra Bell of Fairfield, Iowa is titled CHAPTER II: in which we meet. Bell is a master at depicting animals in her painting. Her show consists of oil on canvas along with a series of ink with watercolor pieces.
Bell paints animals with such character – they are in fact characters. Your favorite storybook characters from the storybook you never read. Looking at the lot of them, it’s easy to let your imagination fill in a story connecting each of the characters and then you begin to wonder if they were actually part of a story you grew up with. But, they weren’t. They are creations of Genevra’s – precious ones!
Each piece is lovingly named for the animal and gives a small tidbit about their fictional personality or interest.
Show on display through the month of November.
We have a brand new art show up at the shop! The latest collection by Karen Lewis (KarenOhBuddy) is available for looky-loos and purchase all month long.
Lewis has painted each of the forty-two United States presidents, plus 16 first ladies. Hung in chronological order from George to Barack, each prez has been watercolored onto 4×4 inch aqua-board tiles and sealed.
Lewis’ portrait work is not to miss. Her subjects are life-like and completely recognizable but her very unique style allows your eyes and mind to travel into a more fluid, colorful, imaginative world. Lewis is able to capture facial expressions, attitudes, moods and even the vibes of her subjects.
Each panel is FOR SALE and would make an excellent gift for anyone you could think of.
$20 a head or 3 for $50
Come check this show while you can get the full-effect of ALL of the presidents and some first ladies arranged together all at once. The pieces are individual but work as one piece in such a delightful way.
Show on display all month – until November 30th (hint hint: bring your family by!)
Our July art show features artist Megan Karson’s series BABETOWN. Her female inspired body of work explores the feminine figure, power, and majestic comparisons between woman and earth.
We are blown away by her line detail. Staring at some of the pieces can be reminiscent of one of those games where you look back and forth at two of the “same” image to find “what’s different?” Megan’s ability to recreate identical images side by side is amazing while the content inspires and excites.
Each piece is set in a custom frame. Pieces in the show are on display and for sale at our shop ranging from $100 – $150 (incredibly reasonable!). Not to miss in person.
